The Martial Chronicals

In The Martial Chronicals, Ray Bradbury supplies a glimpse into the future that not only appears at people today from a technological standpoint, but from a human a single as well. His properly crafted, virtually poetic stories are science fiction in setting only. They place much more emphasis on the apathy and inhumanity of modern society, rather than the technologies. Ray Dougless Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 to Leonard Spaulding and Ester Bradbury in Waukegan, Illinois. He started his writing at the young age of twelve, largely for his personal amusement. His wonderful sytle of writing was developed during this time as he study the Oz books, Alice in Wonderland, Tarzan, Grimms’ Fairy Tales, and the works of Poe. In 1934 his family moved to Los Angeles, exactly where Bradbury attended high college and joined the Los Angeles Science-Fantasy Society. When a member, Bradbury published four problems of his personal magazine, Futuria Fantasia. Right after graduating from higher school in 1938 he took various jobs which permitted him to devote considerably of his time to writing. His 1st story, published in 1940 by Script magazine, was “It is Not the Heat, It is the Hu” and established Bradbury’s well known theme of social irritation. By 1942, Bradbury was in a position to earn enough funds writing that he could give up his job selling newspapers and devote all of his time to what he loved. (Candee 88)
